Lenny Kravitz @ Terminal 5 - 8/31/11

I’ve somehow gone my entire concert-going life without seeing Lenny Kravitz live in any setting, club or festival.  A mob gathered outside of Terminal 5 for the Samsung sponsored event (many of them with old magazines featuring the singer), showing that Lenny can still pull them in.  Still clad in shades, he ran through a career spanning 11-song set, including an extended jazz version of “Always On The Run.”  Setlist below and some far away photos to follow!

Peelander and Peewonder-Z @ Death By Audio 8/24/11

The last time I saw Peelander-Z, they were hanging off rails at South Street Seaport.  This celebration at Death By Audio didn’t have that, or human bowling, but yet again, they put on a completely different show.  Peelander’s “sisters” Peewonder-Z were the real highlights of the show.  Marching into the main room mariachi style, they played a bit on their own and then Yellow, Green and Red joined in to back them.  A birthday cake also ended up on Yellow’s face.  Good times, good times.

Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players @ Death By Audio 8/16/11

It had been around 7 years or so since the last time I’d ventured out to see the Trachtenburgs and not a lot has changed over the years.  Rachel’s a lot more grown up, but Jason still nervously banters in between songs and Tina still silently mans the projector.  This time the band was joined by Jason’s jazz band Pendulum Swings, and debuted some new material in addition to the (according to me) classic “Look At Me”, a somewhat biographical journey through a woman named Jean’s life.

MNDR @ Public Assembly 8/11/11

Amanda Warner shed her glasses to perform at the GLMR KLLS Fall Bash tonight at Public Assembly in Williamsburg.  She ran through a 10-song set consisting of some new material and old favorites like “Fade To Black”, and the show closer “Sparrow Song.”  Twasn’t a bad first show back in the states at all!
